Case Report: Hydrocephalus as the Presenting Symptom of Sarcoidosis

In this case report, a 53 year old African-American women presented to the emergency department with nausea and vomiting and reported fatigue, headaches, intermittent vertigo, tinnitus, and ataxia lasting a month.

A CT scan of the brain showed remarkable hydrocephalus with dilation of all 4 ventricles. A Cerebrospinal fluid was transparent and showed lymphodominant pleocytosis with increased protein levels and decreased glucose. A CT scan of the chest revealed bilateral lymphadenopathy and a biopsy showed noncaseating granulomas admixed with giant cells.

The patient was diagnosed with neurosarcoidosis with hydrocephalus
