Regional hyperthermia shows promise in treating high-risk soft tissue sarcomas
Regional hyperthermia (RHT) shows promise as an effective addition to multi-modal therapies for treating high-risk soft tissue sarcomas (STS), according to a study.
The systematic literature review found that when combined with perioperative chemotherapy or radiotherapy (RT)/neoadjuvant chemoradiotherap, RHT appeared to improve overall survival rates for patients with STS. The review also indicated that RHT was generally well-tolerated, with no significant reported toxicities.
However, to fully determine the optimal integration of RHT in STS treatment, further expert consensus and clinical trials are needed.
