Decreased basophil proportions may be a biomarker of lupus nephritis
In this cross-sectional, case-control study, a 14-color immunophenotyping panel was done on 60 patients with systemic lupus erythematosus and 20 sex- and age-matched healthy controls.
In patients with systemic lupus erythematosus, significantly decreased proportions of CD4-CD8- T cells, natural killer cells and innate lymphoid cells were found compared to controls after multivariate analysis. Basophil proportions were significantly decreased in the subgroup of patients with lupus nephritis compared with patients without lupus nephritis.
