Will reimbursement for telehealth services be permanently expanded?
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) annual proposed Physician Fee Schedule and Quality Payment Program, which updates Medicare payment rates, may include proposals outlining how reimbursement for telehealth services may be permanently expanded, according to an article on Fierce Healthcare.
At the American Telemedicine Association’s virtual conference, Emily Yoder, an analyst in the division of practitioner services at CMS, told attendees that the physician fee rule will include changes that can be made through standard rule-making changes, like additions to the telehealth service list, Fierce Healthcare reported.
Yoder urged practitioners to look at the proposals and provide comments.
CMS annual proposed Physician Fee Schedule rule is typically published in July.
