Medication adherence linked to better health-related quality of life in patients with sarcoidosis

Patients with sarcoidosis who adhere to medication regimens have a better health-related quality of life than those who don’t, according to a study in Chest.

A total of 117 participants with pulmonary sarcoidosis on treatment were administered questionnaires to assess medication adherence, health-related quality of life, health-care utilization, and sociodemographic information.

Higher medication adherence was associated with better health-related quality of life, 66% reporting at least 1 nonadherent behavior.

In addition, the researchers noted that black participants reported lower medication adherence than white participants (P < 0.05).
