Case Report: Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma

In this case report, a 5-year old girl presented to the outpatient department of the authors’ tertiary care hospital. Symptoms included foul smelling, non-blood stained discharge from the right ear that had started one-month prior and deviation of angle of mouth to the left side of acute onset. The patients was diagnosed with embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma, an intrusive soft tissue sarcoma, which is rarely located in the ear.

The patient was treated with multimodal therapy and was disease-free after 2 years.

The authors concluded that, embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma of the head and neck mimics chronic otitis media.
