Daily multidisciplinary meeting reduces time to definitive diagnosis in bone and soft tissue sarcoma
A daily diagnostic multidisciplinary meeting (DMDT) aimed at quickly directing resources to referral patients with primary bone and soft tissue sarcoma at the greatest risk of malignancy and improving communication with patients resulted in improvements in service efficiency and a reduction in time to definitive diagnosis (TTDD), according to a study.
Researchers found that the introduction of the DMDT reduced TTDD by 7 days. In addition, the DMDT reduced the average total times patients traveled over the course of the diagnosis by 22.68 miles.
